WHAT TO EXPECT!

Welcome to the Mayan World! A fascinating journey to explore the two most important Mayan Cities in the region and the beautiful Flores Island. Discover Tikal, The Awakening of the Mayas, and Yaxhá, which hold an incredible history with structures over 3,000 years old preserved under a lush jungle.

DAY 01: 

We leave from Guatemala City in the afternoon towards Flores, after a 1 hour flight, you arrive in Flores where your Tikal Expedition driver is waiting for you to take you to Flores Island for a tour of the colorful streets, then we take a boat that takes us across Lake Petén Itzá and at the end we take you to your hotel.

DAY 02:

Your Tikal Expedition guide arrives very early (03:00 am) to board the vehicle and begin the sunrise tour in Tikal. We arrive and walk through the paths in the middle of the jungle in a dense darkness and only the Mayan Gods accompany us. We arrive at Temple IV (Double Headed Serpent), we climb it and we will observe the sunrise (Kinich Ajaw), at the same time feel and listen to the vibrant awakening of the fauna. We have breakfast (Box Lunch) Then we descend and begin the archaeological tour of the impressive temples. To then finish we return to your hotel and you can rest.

DAY 3:

At 08:00 am your Tikal Expedition guide will pick you up at the hotel to begin the tour of Yaxhá. It was the capital of an extensive territory that dominated the northeastern part of Petén, although it had very strong ties with the city of Tikal, Caracol, in Belize, and Calakmul in Mexico. It has monumental complexes with pyramidal temples, Acropolis, twin pyramid complexes, commemorative complexes, Ball Games, palaces and domestic residential complexes.

The park is a refuge that allows you to appreciate a balanced combination of biodiversity and pre-Hispanic cultural heritage. Due to the presence of impressive lagoons and wetlands that are part of the main migratory bird routes, the park has been recognized as a wetland of world importance (RAMSAR). The Yaxhá and Sacnab lagoons can be seen from the top of several archaeological monuments, giving the area a unique scenic beauty.

At the end of the tour we return to Mundo Maya Airport to check in with the airline that will take you back to Guatemala City.

DAY 01:

11:00 am Arrive at La Aurora Airport 2 hours in advance.

01:00 pm Flight departure from La Aurora Airport in Guatemala City to Flores with a duration of 1 hour

02:00 p.m. We arrive at Mundo Maya International Airport in Flores and your guide is waiting with a sign. We board a vehicle to go to Flores Island.

03:15 pm We arrived at Flores Island and began the tour.

 06:30 p.m. We board our vehicle and head to your hotel to rest.

DAY 02:

 03:00 a.m. Your Tikal Expedition guide will pick you up at your hotel to board the vehicle and head to Tikal.

 04:00 a.m.-We arrive at Tikal and begin the sunrise tour

 10:30 a.m. End of the Tour and we return to your hotel.

 12:00 pm We arrive at your hotel in Flores

DAY 03:

 09:00 a.m. Your Tikal Expedition guide arrives at your hotel to board the vehicle and we head towards Yaxhá (Check out at the hotel)

 10:30 a.m. We arrive at Yaxhá and begin the tour.

 01:30 p.m. End of tour and Lunch

 03:30 pm We return to Mundo Maya Airport to check in at the airline for the return to Guatemala City.

05:30 pm Flight from Flores to Guatemala City
