If you have the opportunity and time to go to El Mirador do it. Specially all who are passionate about archeology and ancient civilizations. Also our guide, Cesar, was so passionate about his work. Even the guys working at the archeological site were super nice (we speak Spanish so we could interact with them too). Antonio is very friendly and even arrived earlier than our meeting time. He is very responsive in messages and super reliable. My guide at Tikal was Tito and he is very knowledgeable about everything Mayan. His explanations and stories were very interesting. He gives you lots of free time to explore the site on your own as well after he’s given you the history behind it. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe with them. Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My partner and I had the Tikal group sunrise tour booked since mid-March and it was the our reason to spend two nights in Flores before leaving Guatemala. We specifically booked this tour to listen to the howler monkeys during sunrise and hopefully experience the tour whilst the area was less busy before all the other tour groups arrived. We had no communication from the tour agency prior but given how other tours and transfers we’ve booked in latam this wasn’t anything unusual for us. We were awake, ready and in our hotel reception at 2:55 for collection at 3am. At 3:04 nothing had come by our hotel so we messaged the tour agency WhatsApp. The itinerary said collections from hotels FROM 3am so we waited patiently presuming they were making other pick ups first and despite no response on WhatsApp. We were getting impatient by 25 past so I called the WhatsApp at 3:26, my first call was declined, I redialed and the call was eventually picked up, I gave the booking number and waited for an update. We suspected we’d been forgotten and at 3:34 I received a message saying they were looking into sending a vehicle, I didn’t receive a response so I followed up asking if we’d still make the sunrise if we were collected now (expecting that perhaps the minibus would make more collections and a direct vehicle might catch up). 10 minutes later we were told it was too late to see the sunrise now. The representative said it was an administrative error and offered us a private day tour as compensation starting at 6am, but having had 2 hours sleep from our flight arriving late the night before, to go back to sleep for 2 more hours to go on a tour, only to miss the main reasons for booking the sunrise tour (sunrise, howler monkeys, quieter tour and less heat during the tour), we weren’t particularly enthused by the offer. After declining, the representative stated that we had missed the collection time and that they had called our hotel, despite before stating it was an administrative error on their part and after already offering to send a new vehicle and offering a private 6am tour (offering compensation supports the admission of error) Regardless, as mentioned, we were waiting in reception before 3am, the hotel phone did not ring, my personal number was not called and we had to chase up the status of our collection (they have my WhatsApp number on the order, and didn’t attempt any communication with me until I made contact). We requested a refund, which in fairness was put through their system immediately but still takes 3-5 business days to process the payment. Perhaps we should have called or messaged the day before to check. We were and still are obviously disappointed with how this unfolded and would probably suggest, if you choose this company, to make sure you organise their collection of you to avoid them forgetting to themselves. Lastly, whilst we appreciated the refund being put through on their system immediately, we didn’t appreciate the dishonesty in them backtracking after originally admitting it was an administrative error and offering compensation to thereafter lie, stating we had missed the collection and that they had attempted to call the hotel (whose phone did not ring) also rather than calling my number which was a mandatory requirement when purchasing the tour. I also felt the apology lacked sincerity, particularly after the lies, and that alternative compensation might have been offered for their mistake. I generally don’t leave any type of review unless an experience is particularly good, or bad. I’ve had just under a week to consider placing this review and on reflection am still very disappointed with how this was dealt with. This is the first bad notable experience after 6 months of travel and I felt it left a bad taste at the end of our otherwise amazing time in Guatemala. Reliable tour operator, flexible scheduling and good communication. We booked the El Mirador helicopter tour; although it’s not cheap (and paid in advance) it’s worth the money. Even though we were just the two of us , they didn’t cancel the trip as they had to swap some crew/staff. Junto con mi esposa tomamos el tour de Tikal y Yaxha privado en un día y realmente la pasamos muy bien, el señor Pablo es un excelente guía, sabe demasiado de historia y dispuesto a contestar todas las preguntas. I did El Mirador helicopter tour to see La Danta with them and I had an amazing experience. The pilot made me a very comfortable and safe flight. Good landing both trip. Our tour guide, Caesar is very professional and he offered very thorough explanation of Mayan history. Food offered is good too. Oliver 'El Condor' did a great job to make everything interesting. The weather was whimsical but in the end the sun came through, plus we saw a lone Pizote! I am deducting points because we were in the same van as people who booked with another provider at a significantly lower rate for the same service. The transportation itself though was comfortable, safe and they had the driver walk through the border with us, so we always had someone with us. Hicimos el tour a Tikal al amanecer, nos buscaron muy temprano para llegar al Parque de noche y podes subir al templo para ver el amancer. Excelente propuesta! La recomiendo porque el parque está casi sin turistas ya que llegamos a las 5 am aprox. Llegamos al parque con nuestro guía Cesar, que es EXCELENTE, idóneo y gran persona, supo interpretar lo que queríamos y enriquecer nuestra excursión de maravillas!
