OUR HISTORY
Some stories begin with a journey
Ours began with a dream
On December 22, 2019, in Flores, Petén, Tikal Expedition was born. It was born from a simple idea, but full of purpose: to share a land that we know, admire, and that, even after so many journeys, still manages to surprise us.
We wanted to showcase Guatemala in a different way. Not just as a destination, but as a land that holds centuries of history, extraordinary natural wealth, vibrant cultures, and places capable of leaving a lasting impression on those who discover them.
A few months later, in 2020, the world stopped and tourism came to a standstill. Our project had to wait, but that vision remained. In 2021, we resumed our journey and formalized Tikal Expedition Tours & Travels as a travel agency based in Flores, Petén, Guatemala.
Since then, we have accumulated five years of experience in the tourism industry, creating trips, tours, and experiences throughout Guatemala, Belize, and southern Mexico. Our journey has also led us to develop air travel experiences, with private airplane and helicopter tours in Guatemala, expanding the possibilities for discovering some of the country's most extraordinary places.
That idea born in Petén has grown alongside each traveler who has trusted us, but our essence remains the same: to share our land with those who wish to discover it and create experiences that connect with its history, nature, culture and essence.
WE WERE BORN IN PETÉN
Our passion is Guatemala
Flores is our home and the Mayan World is part of our roots. Here our story began, surrounded by jungle, nature and the legacy of one of the most fascinating civilizations in America. But from the beginning we knew there was much more to discover.
Our routes extended to different regions of Guatemala: ancient Mayan cities, volcanoes, lakes, communities, natural landscapes, and colonial cities. Over time, we incorporated routes to Belize and southern Mexico, connecting territories that share centuries of history and culture.
We also take some experiences beyond the roads, developing services and expeditions by private plane and helicopter to extraordinary and remote places in the country. We have grown, traveled new paths and discovered new ways to travel.
But we continue to showcase our land with the same passion with which we began.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We want you to feel the place, not just visit it.
For us, there is a big difference between arriving at a destination and truly discovering it. We don't just want to take you to Tikal, Yaxhá, Antigua, Atitlán, or any of the places that are part of your trip.
We want you to understand what you are seeing, learn the stories behind each place, discover its nature, and return home feeling that you truly experienced a part of this land.
That's why we work with certified guides specializing in history, archaeology, culture, nature, ornithology and adventure, professionals capable of transforming a visit into an opportunity to understand, discover and connect.
Because we believe that a place changes when you learn its history. And so does a journey.
BEHIND EVERY ADVENTURE
Every detail matters to us.
While you discover, We'll take care of the road.
Every experience begins long before departure time. There are routes to plan, schedules to coordinate, vehicles to prepare, and a team working behind the scenes to ensure every detail runs smoothly.
We have late-model vehicles, from SUV units for private experiences to larger capacity vehicles for families and groups.
Our team remains available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, supporting our operations and ready to provide you with assistance whenever you need it.
We want you to focus on enjoying, discovering, and living in the moment. We'll take care of the rest.
We continue to write our story
Since then December 22, 2019, Many things have changed. We have explored new paths, expanded our borders, and welcomed travelers from different parts of the world. But there is something that continues to excite us as much as it did at the beginning:
Seeing someone discover our land for the first time.
That first dawn, A story I didn't know, A landscape that compels you to stop, A conversation that ends up becoming a memory. Or simply that moment when someone realizes they've found much more than they expected.
Perhaps our job is to organize trips, coordinate routes, and connect destinations. But our reason for doing so goes much further.
Create a path for you to experience something you'll remember long after you've returned home.
This is our land. This is our story. And we'd love to be a part of yours.
