DESCRIPTION
WHAT TO EXPECT!
We pick you up at your hotel in Guatemala City and transfer you to Pacaya Volcano National Park. It is an easy volcano to climb and does not require excellent physical condition, making it a fascinating attraction for children and adults. As you ascend, our guide will provide you with information about the geography, geology and history of this stratovolcano. We arrive and prepare to see the impressive landscapes of molten lava flowing from the crater, feel the steam emanating from the rock and prepare some small marshmallows with the heat, which is what makes it fascinating. Come and live your experience!
The Pacaya volcano is one of many (active) located around Antigua, the old capital of Guatemala, and perhaps the most accessible. The last major eruption of the Pacaya volcano was in 2010. Until 2016, it was actually possible to see lava up close during the hike – different tour companies took different routes. During sunset hikes, as soon as it got a little dark, the volcano could be seen spewing smoke and lava.
