DESCRIPTION
WHAT TO EXPECT!
It is a stratovolcano in Guatemala, the third highest volcano in the country, located near the city of Antigua. The volcano has two peaks, the Major Peak Y Yepocapa (3880 m above sea level), which is also known as the “Three Sisters”. Acatenango is connected to the Fuego volcano, and the union of both is known as La Horqueta; where foreigners and nationals alike can enjoy the beautiful views.
The climb to the summit promises an unforgettable experience, with each step bringing you closer to the crater rim. At the top, you will be greeted by a captivating view of the neighbouring Fuego Volcano which always puts on a show with its often active fumarole, contributing to the dramatic and dynamic landscape that defines this region. The juxtaposition of the fiery red lava against the serene and expansive landscapes creates a visual spectacle that will be etched into your memory.
